Pitch for Sequel

Company / App Name: Sequel

https://sequel.me/
Twitter – SequelHQ

What does it do?

Sequel lets you create and share channels – little streams of words, pics, maps, and links that you update over time. You follow channels, not people. And channels can be private, requiring approval to follow.

Why do we need it?

When you post to other social networks, ALL of your friends/followers will potentially see. This reduces the types of content people are comfortable sharing. On Sequel, people self-organize into little audience groups around your channels.

Who is it for?

People who don’t feel comfortable sharing much on existing social networks. Sequel takes the anxiety away from sharing by giving you a simple and creative way to share with smaller, interested audiences.

What makes it stand out from the crowd?

Other attempts to solve this problem have required fiddling with settings (Facebook privacy controls, Google+ circles). Sequel flips this on its head: you create custom channels, and people follow your channels if they’re interested.

What’s next?

Android, Secret Channels, more content types, more features on web.
