What does it do?
Inspired by Cinemagraphs, Flixel is a free iPhone application that enables users to “live paint” their animations, apply a filter and share with others on a variety of social networks including Twitter, Tumblr, Facebook.
Why do we need it?
Cinemagraphs are entrhalling but their creation is burdened by complexity. Flixel provides an experience blending simplicity, artistic integrity, and pushes the boundaries of iPhone imagery so even Joe iPhone can do living photo!
Who is it for?
The app is for iPhoneography and iPhone imagery enthusiasts – people who love photos and love to manipulate them. We’re Instagram for living photos.
What makes it stand out from the crowd?
Flixel’s interaction design reveals itself when it’s time to animate the GIF. Rubbing your fingertip over the image animates just that portion of the frame, so you can create subtle effects like a candle flame flickering.
What’s next?
We’re working on a custom iPad version and looking into the android market as well. We’ll also be launching contests and other cool initiatives…so refine your flixography!
