Company / App Name: Torpedo
What does it do?
Torpedo is a little Mac app that lets you share files with a secret link that disappears when the file is downloaded. Torpedo was built to quickly get a file to someone, without it being in the cloud any longer than it needs to be.
Why do we need it?
Things like Google Drive and Dropbox are great for storing files in the cloud long-term, but they end up being a pretty big hassle when you just want to quickly send someone a file–especially if they aren’t part of your team.
Who is it for?
Anyone that wants to share files but doesn’t want to invest into the Google Drive or Dropbox ecosystem. Or anyone that has a problem with files living in the cloud when you just want to transfer the file to another person.
What makes it stand out from the crowd?
We focused on doing less with file sharing. The app is simple and elegant and does just what you need it to.
We’re planning to add the ability to share snippets of text. The text will be encrypted and can only be decrypted using the URL and will vanish once viewed. Useful for sharing passwords or anything else that you want to self-destruct.
