Company / App Name: Tap Me Out
What does it do?
Tap Me Out is a safety net for kids. When kids find themselves in situations that they don’t want to be in, but are afraid or embarrassed to ask for help, Tap Me Out is the emergency button they need, sending a message and their location.
Why do we need it?
As the creator of the Online Safety Group (where parents learn how to keep their kids safe online), I heard many stories of kids being too afraid to call for help, and the situation they are in getting worse. This solves that problem.
Who is it for?
Any kids who are spending time away from home without their parents, including sleepovers, parties etc. Typically our members say that is from about 9 upwards. Interestingly, lot’s of grownups like it for dating too!
What makes it stand out from the crowd?
It is designed to a situation we heard about all too often, and has been kept simple so that it always works in an emergency.
Given how many adults tell us they are going to use it for dating, we will likely add different pre-written emergency messages, and perhaps the ability to regularly send location on a timed basis.
