The FDA recently approved a non-surgical weight loss procedure called ReShape that is two saline-filled balloons inserted into the stomach via the esophagus for a period of six weeks.

Reshape could be a Lap Band disruptor. It’s non-surgical, and according to one academic study, ReShape subjects lost 2x the weight as did subjects only receiving diet and exercise.

Those with a BMI in the 30-40 range.

This is the first FDA approved non-surgical weight loss procedure of this kind available in the U.S.
What’s next?
The first commercial patient was treated in Chattanooga, Tenneessee in August of 2015. Rehape Medical is currently pursuing more treatment centers to become certified and looking at regulatory compliance to launch in Canada.
