Because getting up and running with your own private docker registry is costly, time consuming and lacks a lot of features that we provide.

It is aimed at developers using docker to create repositories

There is no crowd yet. Docker is new and so are we. If it was a crowd I would say it’s simplicity, security and ease of use.

Listen to the community and see what their needs are. Adding options to publish public repositories.
