Twitter – @accountlab

What does it do?

Founded in 2012, the Accountability Lab is an independent, non-profit organization that works to harness the creativity of citizens in developing countries to improve transparency, build integrity, and hold power-holders responsible.

Why do we need it?

Current development assistance is overly centralized, supply-driven, and not fitted to scale and context. Accountability Lab addresses the roots of poverty, inequality, and exclusion by supporting initiatives at the grassroots level.

Who is it for?

We provide incubation services for social entrepreneurs in developing countries who use creative approaches to solve accountability challenges.

What makes it stand out from the crowd?

Our initiatives are local and small-scale. We provide small grants for cost-effective and sustainable programs. Our approaches blend high and low tech tools to reach beneficiaries.

What’s next?

We are planning to scale up our current initiatives and expand to rural areas. We also plan to branch out to more countries in Africa and South and Southeast Asia. We also plan to focus on increasing our visibility in media.
